Second Essex Handbell Day

The 2nd Essex Handbell Day was held on the 30th November 2019, hosted again by St. Peter-ad-Vincula, Coggeshall. Fifteen ringers attended from the county, with representation from the Northern, North-Eastern, Southern, South-East and South-West districts. The morning sessions concentrated on reinforcing Plan Bob Minor for beginner handbell ringers, following Paul Cammiade’s highly successful “Absolute Beginners” day held in the Southern District over the summer. In the afternoon some more experienced ringers (and some ringers returning to handbells after a long break) consolidated more advanced skills, and methods rung included Kent Treble Bob Minor and Major, Plain and Little Bob Major (separately and spliced), Bastow Little Bob Major, and Cambridge Surprise Minor. There was expert tuition and guidance from Paul Cammiade, Brian Meads and David Sparling, and cake provided by Gill Sparling and Paul Cammiade helped sustain when brain strain threatened to overcome us.
